Whether you own an RV or are interested in RV rentals, transportation is going to be one of the initial questions. Today we are sharing a few tips to help get you successfully and safely out on the road with our pre-departure checklist and driving basics.

PRACTICAL TIPS for RV Adventures

Practice. Practice. Practice. The more you do it the more comfortable you are with it. Whether renting or buying, find an open lot to practice and familiarize yourself with driving, turning, breaking, and parking.

  1. Know height and length
  2. Drive slowly and steadily to avoid tipping
  3. Brake gradually
  4. Watch for low clearance areas
  5. Plan your route ahead of time
  6. Limit driving time to around 6 hours to stay alert and get to your next destination with plenty of sunlight to setup properly

If you want to purchase a specific unit to input your dimensions and details to custom calculate the safest and best route for you, take a look at the Garmin GPS units. Another advantage is connectivity- it is satellite based unlike our smartphones. There are a variety of options with Garmin RV GPS units, the median price around $450.
